replication

well, for those interested, the cd is now undergoing its final mastering copying and packaging.  hopefully we will have 500 of them in a week or so.  it will have a barcode and everything.  a local radio station may be contacting us soon to set up an interview or promotion or something.  someone called them and told them our story, so we will see.  this has been a long and involved process, but I am pretty excited to get these things in (and to sell them!)

the wife has purchased a black scion which I am supposed to go sign for tomorrow morning.  I am happy for her.  now she will be driving the same vehicle her mother and sister both drive.

still no word on whether our footage will air on oprah

the kids are enjoying school and seem to be doing well at it.  the older one has joined the girl scouts.

we still need to sell our old house.  please pray!

love you all, dave

volume none

we are scrambling to get our ten song cd finished before the weekend is over.  at some point this week our oprah footage may be airing.  it is possible that it may be even later, but that is just better for us.  if we get oprah's traffic driven to our website, we would like to have our store up and running and be able to ship stuff out.  it could become a big deal or it could not, I don't know.  I emailed the sick puppies manager just to drop a bug in their ear about our music.  no idea if they will even respond.  for anyone who doesnt know, the music website is posted on my previous post and should be under my profile pic also.  still teaching sunday school at church and going to focus on the family's truth project lessons.  my little one just turned 5 the other day.  it does go by fast as they say.

I got snipped about 2 weeks ago.  that was interesting.  they gave me some valium to take about an hour before the procedure.  and then there was a female in there assisting the doctor the whole time.  they used a hydraulic injector to give the pain-killer, and some kind of a poking tool to make the incision, so there were no needles and no scalpels.  so my ahem, junk was rubber banded and paper clipped to the gown and I had my feet in the stirrups.  pretty comical.  I had to ask the nurse how in the world she got into this business, and she said she didn't know but her kids wouldnt come to school on career day.  on the ceiling was a poster of heath ledger as the joker with the caption, "why so sad?"  you gotta love that.  it didn't hurt near as much as I was expecting.  plus they gave me a prescription for hydrocodone and a big ice pack.  I had asked the doc to shoot me straight and tell me how bad the shrinkage was.  he said it wasnt too bad.  (sigh)...payin him to lie to me...

take care everyone, dave out

out of the blue

okay, on monday,  i got a call at a little after noon asking if my cousin and i could play in dalhart, tx,  about 90 miles away at six that evening because the Oprah Winfrey show was going to film a fundraiser for an animal shelter there.  uh, okay.  we havent even rehearsed in awhile.  I had gotten snipped less than a week before and was on the ol' hydrocodone, and my sleep schedule was jacked up.  so why not!  there was another band on the way but they needed someone more local to play in the meantime.  so we got our stuff together and headed that way.   we got there and the Oprah camera crew was there along with Nate the decorator from the show.  Oprah was not there.   We signed release forms allowing them to use the film of us on the show, and we got started.  i was so pumped.  they asked us to do as much of our original stuff as possible while they were filming so they wouldnt have to call a bunch of other bands to get permission to show us playing their stuff.  we did every original we could pull out and then we got into the covers.  there were probably 2 or 3 hundred people there and we were well received.  then the Sick Puppies showed up (check them out on youtube), in their big tour bus and played for the crowd.  we got to meet them and they signed our guitars.  The people who had set up the fundraiser were so thankful to us.  Today they filmed the rest of the show.  The students and others who had started the rescue shelter went with some of the animals to the actual set of the show,  and hopefully they will be showing footage of the fundraiser (including us)  as soon as tuesday or within the next couple weeks.  I am still reeling.  This thing was totally unexpected, and we are hoping that something good will come out of it.  ( like maybe the right person will hear our stuff and like it).  for those who dont know our band (just my cousin and i) is called Crave and our website is www.thecravecraze.com Come check us out.  You can hear some of our music, and soon we will have our merchandise available.   take care, dave out

what do we got?

well, I gotta say, I saw the nastiest thing I've yet seen on the job.  In short, a guy who had died some days earlier in his apartment.  Without too much gory detail, he had turned black and started oozing and congealing into the carpet.  Maggots and bugs, the whole nine yards.  We had to put on airpacks and do a quick walk through to make sure he was the only one.  Man, I couldn't get that out of my head for a couple days!

In other news, I read the shack recently and have had it on my mind ever since.  Have any of you all read it?  It has a lot of good insights into God's character.  Also, i have been going to a focus on the family program called the truth project.  It is about a biblical world view.  Really neat stuff.

my cousin and I are still working on the music stuff, but it is slooooow going.  I guess that is just the nature of it.

I got moved to a new shift and station a few months ago.  I was really down for awhile, but am making the adjustment.  It is much busier.  Ive gotten to fight some fire, and do some vehicle extrication work, so the experience is good for making me better at my job.

Take care, dave out

words fitly spoken

the Bible says that in the tongue is the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.  our words matter.  they matter in our relationships and they matter in our thinking, our emotional, mental, and physical well being.  it is a tough discipline to train myself in right thinking.  it starts with dwelling on what God's word says.  thoughts?

in other news, my cousin and I played another gig last saturday night and it went pretty well i thought.  we have a seven song demo cd finished, but we want to tweak a couple things and see if someone who knows what they are doing will remaster it for us.  it's pretty exciting.  you can visit our new website at www.thecravecraze.com even though there is still a lot of work to do on it.

i have been mowing lawns on the side and teaching sunday school on the Sundays i am not at the fire station.

i was recently assigned to a new shift and a new station.  i was really bummed out about it for awhile but i'm okay with it now.  got to put out some fire recently and use the jaws also.  I am at a much busier station now.

my sister in law is visiting us with her kids.  her husband is in iraq.  the kids are really happy to be able to see each other and play, so that is cool.  we are having a good time.

still trying to sell the other house, but that is a whole nuther story.  dave out
